Representatives from Figshare (a research data collaboration and sharing platform), and Altmetric (an alternative publication metrics tracking tool) will be holding workshops on how to make the most of these new applications.

You’ll learn how to use Altmetric for Institutions to easily identify, track and report on both the academic and non-academic attention and engagement surrounding Melbourne research.
The session will provide an introduction to altmetrics, and explain how and why it’s increasingly important that researchers can demonstrate the impact of their work.
The workshop will be particularly useful for staff interested in understanding the reach and impact of research, or tasked with reporting to funders on the research engagement in broader society.
Attendees will learn:
What altmetrics are
What the data can show you
How others are applying altmetrics in practice
How to identify Melbourne research with attention across a range of sources
And by the end of the session will have:
A clear understanding of how you can integrate this data into your existing workflows and reporting
Set up your own account on the platform
Please bring a laptop if possible, although all are welcome and will benefit from the content of this workshop.
