#WinterIsComing

That’s correct people! After achieving a world first earlier this year, Melbourne University and ITS Research will launch the second iteration of their highly successful 3D printing training course: The 3D Printing Winter School. We’ve been amazed by the interest and demand for the course, with tickets selling out within the first hours of release!

From June 30th – July 2nd, students from various backgrounds will learn what it takes to become ‘Digital Blacksmiths’. Traditional blacksmiths conceptualise an object and create it from forging and shaping metals. The digital blacksmith replaces traditional blacksmith tools (e.g., hammer, anvil etc.) with a 3D printer to create objects. The Winter School aims to deliver new 3D printing skills to students, by teaching them how to use Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and 3D printing software. This will help Melbourne University researchers and the 3D printing community in developing ideas and producing better research outcomes.
