Announcing the COMBINE Wikipedia edit-a-thon
Here at the Research Bazaar, we love open science and open content. Nearly all researchers use Wikipedia, but very few edit it, and recently we’ve been working to change that through workshops to help researchers edit and create Wikipedia articles.

So when we heard that COMBINE, a student-run Australian organisation for computational researchers in the life sciences, was planning to run a nation-wide Wikipedia edit-a-thon, we naturally wanted to support this in any way we could.
We have been working with COMBINE to provide a suitable venue for their Melbourne event, and organising a google hangout so that all the participants across Australia can meet and interact with each other.
Here are the details for the Melbourne event:
Date: Tuesday September 9thTime: 4:30–6:30pmLocation: MSLE Room G08 (Kimptom Lab)RSVP: http://goo.gl/1BW4Ol (for catering purposes)
We will be joined by the COMBINE groups at the University of Queensland (4pm-6pm), The University of Sydney (5pm-7pm), CSIRO, North Ryde NSW (4:30pm–), and at The University of Adelaide (4pm-6pm ACST). See COMBINE’s event flyer for more information on each of the state events.
If you’re not located at any of these venues, you are welcome to join us on the day through the Wikipedia Meetup page and our google hangout.
This event is kindly sponsored by Australian Bioinformatics Network. The Melbourne event further supported by the University of Melbourne Student Union, and the Graduate Student Association, and run in partnership by The Research Bazaar with COMBINE, and the Bioinformatics Graduate Student Association at the University of Melbourne.
